Blizzard Entertainment has all but confirmed that cross-play support is headed to critically acclaimed dungeon crawler, Diablo III.

Speaking during an interview with Business Insider Australia, a representative for the World of Warcraft developer said that it is ‘actively working with partners at Sony and Microsoft to enable cross-console play with Diablo 3 on Switch.’

That sounds pretty clear-cut to us, although no release date was mentioned. However, the rep added ‘it’s a question¬†of when, not if.’

The timing is certainly fitting, as Sony recently announced cross-play support for PS4 on Fortnite and other third-party content.

Diablo III was originally released on PC back in 2012 and arrived on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 the following year. Blizzard re-released it for current-gen machines in August 2014 as Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition, which includes the base game and the Reaper of Souls expansion.

Finally, we have the 2017’s Eternal Collection, which combines the full game plus all previously released DLC. This version of the game is heading to Nintendo’s hybrid console on November 2.
